Miarex was decidedly regretting her decision to jump on this mission without a second thought.
She'd looked like a plank of wood when actually asked to do the mission (receiving a look from the Superior that said "grow a personality, kay?"), but on returning to her room she'd basically danced for half the day before setting off.
Finding the world wasn't difficult - she'd been given the coordinates - and she hadn't thought that a world called "Spirited Away" could possibly be that difficult to scout out and map. She'd be done within a week and report back in good shape with a smile (second impressions mattered more than firsts in her opinion).
She'd been fooled.
She hadn't eaten any of the food, she knew better since watching the goings on of Xrsci and Jaxson had taught her that food left alone was probably poisoned.
She'd completely skipped the bridge, preferring to jump onto the roof for better access to the bath house as well as a better vantage point, even if night was setting in.
She'd even scaled all the way to the highest balcony to try and get a better look at the place she'd be surveying for the next few weeks.
That's when things had started shrivelling up and dying.
The next thing she knew she was being attacked by a crow or raven, she couldn't tell which, as well as having some squat old crone yelling at her about something she couldn't make out through the squawking of the bird.
When everything had calmed down slightly she'd sat down next to some girl who kept begging for a job and contemplated her situation.
She was supposed to have been discrete about her arrival, her being there, and her departure. So far she was so screwed over that she was just about to give up on the mission then and there.
Instead she asked for a job as well, hoping that she'd find out more about the world if she was actually living in it as opposed to just watching it.
She had screwed up again.
For one thing she'd managed to alienate the girl next to her, whose name was Chihiro, when Yubaba had chosen Miarex over her straight away.
A second mistake occurred when she tried to sign her contract. She signed in English first, which Yubaba stared at like it was on fire. She corrected her mistake, realising that she must've been speaking Japanese since she'd gotten here for a reason, and re-signed her name in Kanji, blushing.
The final mishap happened when Yubaba tried to steal her name. She couldn't. Miarex's name had already been altered, and even when she tried to explain this she was thrown (literally) out of the office and into the hall to wait for Chihiro to sign her contract.
When she came out with a boy Miarex hadn't seen before she didn't bother commenting, she was too busy trying to figure out why she felt like she'd destroyed a world or something like that.
She contemplated all of these happenings as she polished a floor, along with a dozen other girl who looked identical. She was on the far end, while Chihiro... Sen was continuously slipping and falling over near the middle. The girl obviously hadn't worked a day in her life.
But Miarex had more important thing to ponder. Like how she was going to get out of here. Now. She'd truly had enough of cleaning, she'd rather be brainwashing people any day.
So that night, she located her clothes, went back to the castle, stole a big sheet of paper and went back to the bathhouse, sitting on top and scribbling away, praying that Yubaba was either asleep or too preoccupied to notice the girl sitting on her roof.
"Note:" she scribbled in one of the margin of her half done map. "If you encounter an old hag by the name of Yubaba, avoid at all costs. She can be recognised by the fact that her nose is the size of an average person's head."
She quickly finished the map and looked down at herself, before feeling a presence behind her. She was definitely in trouble now.
She turned slowly, only to find that she was looking at the tip of a very large and ugly nose, as well as accusing eyes and a few flunkies who were holding weapons.
Miarex decided to hightail it.
When Miarex finally returned to the castle about a week and a half after her departure, she was a mess.
Her red hair was even more red in places where she'd somehow managed to get blood on it, and she wasn't even bothering to hide her face, instead shooting withering glances at anyone who dared approach.
In one hand she held a dirty, slightly torn and blood-sprayed map and in the other there was a single strand of silver thread.
She made her way to the superior's office, not even bothering to knock as she opened the door and basically threw herself in the armchair allocated for the people being given missions.
"Miarex, it's good to see you back in one piece!" said the Superior, with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "How did you like Spirited Away, easy enough for you?"
Miarex slapped her map on the table in response. "I'll have the report done whenever I decide to get out of bed, may I be excused?" she asked tiredly.
Xojhn sent her a look which she didn't quite catch before allowing her to go.
When she went the wrong way, however, he stopped her. "Quarters are in the other direction, Miarex."
"I'm checking this thing out." She replied, holding up the strand of what was now revealed to be hair. "I want to see if she was actually a witch, or if she was possessed." She continued before leaving.
"She?" pondered Xojhn. "Oh well." And he picked up the map and unfolded it.
On it he found a large angry face with it's tongue poking out. Underneath it read:
"I'll send you what I managed to get before getting the crap beaten out of me later. If I feel like it. Thanks. Miarex."
Xojhn had a feeling he'd never see that report.
